Vitor MM Azevedo

Vitor Azevedo studied fine art at the University of Derby. His paintings are inspired by his own personal history, stemming from a background of religious symbolism, family values, a love of the sea and the traditions of Portugal. His desire to create work using strong and expressive colours is central to his practice as a painter and is directly inspired by growing up in a house with two non-sighted parents.

His work unravels a history of life sequences, describing personal chapters and events that represent significant passages of time and special moments that hang suspended. Like a pebble thrown into still water, his paintings offer a chance to see beneath the surface and visit subconcious thought. Light, breath, warmth and colour contribute to display a visionary index of a personal biography to be shared and enjoyed.
